After giving my eyelashes a break of about half a year, I recently got eyelashes extensions done once again since it’s summer now and it is extremely convenient to have them. In this post I wanted to share a few quick tips of how to take care of your eyelash extensions for them to look cute for as long as possible.

  1. COMB THEM. This is by far the most important thing since if you don’t do that, they’re gonna get all messed up and look not pretty but otherwise. Make sure you comb your lashes at least once every 2 days to keep them nice.
  2. KEEP THEM CLEAN. Always make sure to remove every single bit of makeup since if you don’t do that, they’ll fall out quicker. Removing eye makeup with a cotton pad is not enough when you have eyelash extensions, so after doing that dip a cotton bud in micellar water and clean your lashes once again.
  3. NO OIL!!!!!! This is the number one rule when it comes to eyelash extensions – never use any product that contains oil anywhere near your eyes.

My opinion on Kylie Cosmetics

You either love her or hate her but you have to admit that Kylie Jenner is a successful business woman. At such a young age Kylie has already released a clothing line with her sister Kendall Jenner, been named one of the most influential teens in the world and most importantly owns a cosmetics company that is expected to be wort more than $1 Billion by 2022. These are only a few achievements of the 20-year-old. But in today’s post I wanted to share a few thoughts that I have on the previously mentioned empire – Kylie Cosmetics.

First of all, I have to admit that I don’t own any of Kylie’s products, the opinions that I’ll share are all based on other people’s reviews and statistics.

So the first few products that Kylie has released were the lip kits. Last year everyone was raving about the matte liquid lipsticks that would sell out so fast that hardly anyone was able to get their hands on the lip kits at first. Later on the lip glosses, eyeshadows and other products were released. As seen in reviews on Youtube it seems that the products are really good quality and worth the money, hence Kylie Cosmetics instantly became a successful makeup brand.

A recent thing that quite amazed me was the Kylie Cosmetics Truck that was rolling through L.A. just a week ago. I personally have never seen or heard about anything similar to that before and I think this is a brilliant new way for the brand to merchandise its production through a visual space like that truck. The truck featured this year’s Kylie Cosmetics holiday collection, lip kits, lipsticks, lip liners, kylighters, ultagrows, palettes and accessories, including panties, socks, and hats from the Kylie Shop. People who were queuing to order the previously mentioned products were also given out vanilla cupcakes with the famous lip kit logo to ease the wait time.

Even though I would love to try Kylie Cosmetics products, its recent release shocked me (as well as quite a lot of well-known people in the beauty industry). If you’ve been keeping up with news about Kylie you probably know what I’m talking about already – the makeup brushes.

I mean, at first sight these look cute. And you would expect the set to be quite expensive not only because you think it’s going to be good quality but because of the brand name. BUT excuse me, $360.00 ??? Okay, it is a full, 16-piece set of real hair makeup brushes. But still, is it a sensible price?

I’m including a review of the brush set that seems to be very honest and straightforward to me.

First thing that is said about the set – the packaging. As Laura Lee said and as it is clearly visible in the video footage, the packaging of the brushes looks cheap and that is not what one would expect after splurging so much money. A few things that I noticed as well are that there is no eyeliner brush and in my opinion this is a crucial brush in a full set.

All in all, I have mixed feelings about Kylie Cosmetics. Although some of the products and marketing strategies seem to be brilliant, some of the stuff that the brand is selling seems to be completely overpriced and not worth all the fuss.

FCP outcomes photoshoot

Last week we had a task to do a photoshoot based on the following 5 words:

  • surrealism
  • theatrical
  • kitsch
  • feminine
  • fable

It was a group project and after a lot of time consumed by thinking of various ideas, we decided to stick with the idea of using makeup in an unexpected way, not like it is used on a daily basis. Also our photoshoot tells the story of how people nowadays are manipulated using beauty products as well as post production. It was our first kind of a serious photoshoot and even though we were stressing about it in the beginning, it was a fun process and we all were happy with the final results.

November beauty favourites

Since today is the last day of November, I wanted to share a few beauty products that I’ve been loving this month and highly recommend.

1. Sleek Makeup highlighting palette in Solstice 032

I got this absolutely gorgeous palette as a gift for my birthday and have been using it every day ever since. It consists of 1 cream and 3 powder highlighter shades that give the most perfect glow ever.

2. Batiste dry shampoo

I have tried a lot of different kinds of dry shampoos but this one is my all time fave. Not only does it give your hair volume and a fresh look, but also the scent of it is sooo nice.

3. Loreal Skin Perfection micellar water

In my opinion using micellar water is the easiest and most convenient way to remove your make up. This product does exactly what it says on the label hence I love it and use it daily.

4. NYX matte lipstick in Butter

This is my another favourite product of all time. It’s the most beautiful nude shade ever that can be worn both daytime and on nights out. Its quality is really good as well since it stays on for a very long time and doesn’t smudge at all. I’m definitely going to repurchase it after running out.

5. Oriflame refreshing eye illuminator

This eye cream actually helps to reduce the puffiness and darkness under the eyes. I use it every morning and evening before applying moisturizer.

6. Calvin Klein CK One fragrance

The bottle that I own is a travel size one so it’s an absolute essential in my handbag. The scent is unisex, very light and has refreshing tones of bergamot, lemon and mandarin.

Spotify expands to beauty

Nowadays the majority of the general public knows what Spotify means and a huge part of people use the previously mentioned digital music service. I personally use Spotify daily for one obvious reason – to listen to music, hence I was quite surprised when I read an article that said, that since the 13th of November Spotify started selling makeup.

source: www.businessoffashion.com

Spotify has been in a partnership with Merchbar to sell artists’ merchandise since last year, but the new expansion allows people to directly shop the look of a particular artist. This action can be seen in the Spotify page of musician Maggie Lindemann – it shows several offers for makeup products that have been created by the makeup brand Pat McGrath Labs. Users can purchase the products right after clicking the provided buy button and being redirected straight to Merchbar’s online store.

In my opinion Spotify has done a great move by introducing the ability to purchase beauty products through artists’ profiles, since it may attract more talented musicians to join the platform and help them earn a little more money aside from just streaming music.

Easy Halloween makeup look

It’s finally Halloween today! Since hardly anyone celebrates it in my home country, I’ve been looking forward to celebrate it in Nottingham for ages. I know that there are some people who still haven’t bought a costume hence I’m sharing a simple Halloween makeup look that doesn’t require any fancy attire at all.

Everything is pretty self-explanatory, but the key aspects that I did were:

  • contoured my face with black eyeshadow rather than a bronzer
  • did a red and black smokey eye, winged eyeliner and applied false lashes
  • drew on some veins with black and red eyeshadow
  • did an ombre lip using black eye pencil and red lipstick

products that I’ve used:

  • Gosh X-Ceptional Wear foundation
  • Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder
  • Revolution Ultra Cream Contour Palette
  • Prestige Browliner brow pencil
  • Essence eyebrow set
  • NYX The Sex Bomb shadow palette
  • Rimmel Glameyes liquid liner
  • Maybelline Turbo Volum’ Express mascara
  • Superdrug false lashes natural edition 13
